Panchkula – One Of The Finest Districts!
Panchkula is a new district of the state of Haryana located near Chandigarh. It is the seventeenth district that has been newly formed. There are mainly 2 divisions that this place is bifurcated into, namely the Panchkula and the Kalka division. If seen together as a unit there are precisely two hundred and sixty four villages that make up this district, which has been formed recently in the state of Haryana.

Out of these two hundred and sixty four villages that make up this district there are twelve villages, which do not have any human population. Also there are around ten villages in this district which are more a part of the urban areas that this district has. This statistical information has been recorded in the year nineteen ninety one.

After talking about the villages this district comprises of, let’s see the towns that make up this district. There are namely four towns in the district of Panchkula, which are Kalka, Pinjore, Panchkula and Haryana. 

Considering the huge area this district occupies, it is quite thinly populated with the over all population being around three laky nineteen thousand. The ration of males and females residing in this place is almost the same and the difference is not more than thirty thousand male counts exceeding the female count. The literacy rate one can easily state how urban a place is.

Seeing the statistical data, the sixty two percent of the males are literate, and only forty six percent of the females are literate in this district.

Geographic Placement of Panchkula
The geographical placement of this place, it has the state of Himachal Pradesh at its north and the Ambala district surrounds the northeastern parts of this district. The eastern parts are adjacent to the district of Kurukshetra and it has Punjab and UT Chandigarh lying around its south.

This region falls under the region of continental monsoon. It has a sub tropical climate and one can easily find rains cooling this place often. The summers are generally hot in this region and the winters are somewhat cool. This place receives uncertain rainfall. That one cannot actually wait for the rains, they are quite unpredictable. During December and few weeks of January one can observe the winter frost in this district.

This place is also affected by the western disturbance and one may expect rains to occur during the winter season due to these western disturbances, which carry the moist air into this region. The rains are more commonly seen in the plain area of this district which are present in to the north of the district and the Pinjore towns which is present in the north east. Also the river Ghaggar may get flooded during the rainy season.

The highest altitude in this district has been measured in the Morni hills, which also constitute the highest point in the state of Haryana.

There are a number of seasonal rivers that flow through this district. River Ghaggar And the river Kaushalya are two such rivers. These are more rain dependent. Almost all the rivers have directivity from the north eastern region to the south western boundaries of the district due to the slope. As said already these rivers are more rain dependent.

The only excerption to the flow of rivers in this district is the river Sirsa that has an orientation along the North West. There are hardly any perennial rivers in this district of Haryana.

Water for domestic and irrigation purpose are mostly obtained from the under ground water table. As this district comprises of many villages a lot of area is made up of a permeable layer of soil. And a good amount of waters gets collected in the under ground water table.

This water after further filtering and processing is used for the domestic purpose and is quite sufficient to meet the domestic water needs of this district. The north and north eastern portion of this district are mainly comprised of hilly areas. Hence the amount of water collected in the under ground water table in these region is less. But due to the geographical structure of this district a huge amount of water gets collected in the southern region of this district of Panchkula.

This district is situated in a place where one can expect mild earthquakes, although earthquake scaled and classified as moderate intensity to high have been felt in this region. As this place is adjacent to the Himalayan foots, the earth quakes are more common.

Panchkula: The Vegetation
This district sees good vegetation due to the good rainfall it receives and due to the good elevation. This district has rich vegetation due to the factors mentioned above and the climate is also quite favourable for the vegetation. Rare and valuable trees can be found in this district owing to the favourable climatic conditions. The trees of Dalbergia, mango, Acacia are among the best-known logs found here.

A huge amount of natural vegetation can be found in this place due to the vast forest cover on the hilly areas of this district.

Places To Visit…
This place has a number of places to be visited. The Mansa Devi Temple located in this district is one of the important places. People who visit this district make it a point to visit this temple. This temple is located in the Village known as Billaspur, which is around three kilometres from the Chandigarh.

Pinjore is another religious place that one must visit when in this district. It is believed that this place was among the earliest habitation of the human beings.

Next on the list, the Morni hills that are a part of the shivalik range that lie north to this place. The village on these hills are located at around twelve hundred and twenty one meters above the sea level. These hills have been named on the name of the queen of these hills. There are mainly two lakes that lie at the two ends of this hill. Kalka is another place of interest, which is mainly on the way to Shimla.
