Mohali Another Nice Charming City

Mohali – Another Nice Charming City
Mohali is a city located in India. It is very close to the famous Chandigarh town, which is the capital of the states Punjab and Haryana in India. It is part of the eighteenth district in Punjab. This city is known to be part of a tricity, which also consists of Chandigarh and Panchkula. It has a very interesting background.

Guru Gobind Singh was a famous personality from Punjab. The city is named after the eldest son of this personality. The name was Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar and the popular short form is SAS Nagar. A while back, it was part of the Rupnagar district, and the city was allotted to a different district.

History And Location
The city was born after Chandigarh was made into a union territory in the 1960s. The area is small and the boundary of the city is surrounded by Punjab and Chandigarh. The city did not have much development when it was initiated. It only grew over the years. The city cannot boast of any excellent planning as such.

The early stages of development of the city did not move on much. It was only in the 1980s that the further development of the city took place. This city too like Chandigarh has many sectors and phases. The city also built its bus stand very late around the 1990s. The city is located very close to Chandigarh, and is sometimes referred to as its extension.

General Information
The city has a very small population, and it is lesser to that of Chandigarh. The population would be around 200,000 and not more. Since the city is small and is pleasant, it has become a popular place for information technology companies. As the city takes effort in building every day, there are several investment opportunities here.

Since the city is located near Punjab, the main language spoken here is Punjabi. The other languages used here are English and Hindi. The city does not have a very steady climate. It will vary with extreme climate in the summer and the winter. The city also experiences all four seasons.

Sometimes the winter season does get very cold, and one might see frost in this city. They may also receive rain in the winter from the west. Summers tend to get very hot and temperatures may reach about 44°C, which is considered to be very hot. During autumn the temperature may be around 36°C.

Spring and winter are very pleasant and the temperatures may be around 15C. As mentioned, the city has a very small population, and the percentage of the males as well as females is almost balanced. The males constitute about 53 percent and females about 47 percent of the population.

The city can also boast of a very high literacy rate. It may have about 83 percent of literacy, and both men and women are educated equally. The literacy rate is also higher than that of the country. This is probably because of the small population, and the number of children in the city is also of a small number.

This would thus give them the opportunity to have quality education.

Structure Of The City
The city has been planned very well, and it is being slowly developed into a world-class city. We can see this because most of the sectors have been planned in such a way, that all of them are sized equally. It has been sized as 800×1000m each. What makes the city interesting in terms of structure is that they are not rushing into the development.

They are making slow and steady progress. This reflects on the fact that a lot of care is being taken to make the city very unique in nature in terms of quality. Some commercial places are also being planned in the city. A total of 114 sectors have been planned for the city, and this would make it well designed.

Unique Qualities
One unique quality of the city is that it is linked towards Chandigarh in a very professional manner. Since Chandigarh is a main city, and also the capital of Punjab and Haryana, Mohali is in close proximity for good relationships with neighbors. This will also make life simple for the residents of the city.

They will be able to use the facilities of Chandigarh, whenever they need to. The other unique quality the city can boast of is the cricket ground developed by the Punjab Cricket Association. It has state of the art facilities, and many popular cricketers are trained here. Besides the practice ground, the place can also boast of excellent facilities such as a health club, swimming pool, library, restaurant and bar.

Other Attractions
The city also has other places of importance. Since it is part of the tricity, and is in close proximity with Chandigarh as well as Panchkula, it can be said that it is also a place of attraction. Some noteworthy things are the Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, the cricket stadium, and some musical fountains.

There are also historical places of interest and this will include, Gurudwara Amb Sahib, Gurudwara Singh Sahidaan, Gurudwara Nabha Sahib. Going to Mohali can also be exciting, because besides the loveliness of the small city, all other main attractions are very close and can be reached very easily.

Literacy
Because the city can boast of a good literacy rate we can explore the educational institutions in this area. Most of them are of high reputation, and can boast of offering good courses in all the institutes. The institutes are also not centered around, on one particular specialty, and will range from general education to medicine and engineering.

Some noteworthy institutes are Chandigarh College of Engineering, Chandigarh College for women, Chandigarh College for hotel management. There is also an institute for law as well as fashion technology. Thus since the educational field is so versatile, we can say that the people are also exposed to high quality education.

Other Faces Of The City
The city is run very professionally, and has a lot of experienced people taking charge. They work diligently towards building a better city every day. Their aim is to provide better living standards for the people, and thus also be an example to the rest of India, to build better cities.
