Punjab University – One of the Best Universities
As today students flirt with a multitude of career options and find themselves nicely seconded them in better opportunities, there is a little that can upset their applecart of dreams, they are so determined to realize. The History – an inspiration
Historically, when getting established in Lahore in 1882, no one thought of ranking this university as the oldest and the largest monument of higher education in whole Pakistan. It is ranked at the top position, for being the first incident to a Muslim majority area. But after partition of India into present Pakistan and India, this university was relocated in Chandigarh in 1956.

The Architecture- an example
The beautiful red sand stone campus was designed by renowned French architect. As an after effect of bifurcation of Punjab and Haryana in 1966, this university was considered to be an inter-state body supported by Central Government, and drawing students from the northern region and beyond.
 The university campus, which resulted in this masterpiece as Punjab University campus, was designed by Pierre Jeanerette under the supervision of Le Corbusier. The area cover sheet of over 500 acres makes it a fair deal for a nice campus area. The spacious campus helps to maintain it pollution free and well ventilated unlike other small colleges

The Vastness
Scratching the surface only; one gets the smell of excellent academic environment. However, the fact that three Nobel Prize winners are from this university says it all. An excellent academic field, better studying environment, nominal fee structure when supported by best faculty makes the Punjab University, first choice for aspiring candidates seeking for admission.

The qualitative aspect has always been a charm of Punjab University. The university throws a sheer combination of 4 campuses, 13 faculties, 9 constituent colleges and 64 departments, centers and institutes. The number of affiliated colleges are near about 105 in number which itself states the giant responsibility that is associated with this university. It comprises of a large family of around 500 permanent faculty members involved in building the future of around 18000 campus students.
Dividing Punjab University into the teaching departments, it turns out to be 50, which are offering, courses under 11 faculties. Enlisting the departments shows the wide range of academic options available with this university. Law department, department of sociology, faculty of engineering and technology, institute of chemical engineering and technology, political science and even department of mass communication are a part of this university.
Despite the fact that the visiting faculties cannot be calculated still, they are the members of this huge family who join hands towards the motto of the organization.

The Facilities
The teaching area in northeast, equipped with one of the largest libraries in whole of the Asia, provides students an opportunity to interact with the world of books in large amounts. The collection of near about a six lakh volumes- both rare and new, 600 current periodicals and 1500 rare manuscripts in current and regional languages rates it exceeding well in terms of the volumes of readable tools.

The availability of facilities like e-mail, multimedia, fax, Xerox machine etc in library inculcates a habit of keeping a record of valuable material among students. The opportunities of utilizing well-equipped and modern laboratories provide each student to have a good amount in terms of exposure.

Modern techniques along great exposure levels from national to international platforms, academic to sports fields and cultural warfares tends to inculcate more of the talents among the students.

Apart from the teaching area in northeast, the fine arts museum and three-winged Gandhi Bhavan lists the core of the university campus. The university hostels located on the shores along with the residential areas in southeast allows hundreds of people to have a constant link to the airy market area and sports field located at the center.

Apart of the fact that it’s a home for hundreds of students, faculty and members, it also serves the facility of guest rooms, and houses for guest faculty, researchers and eminent scholars. Praises goes to the university executive engineer and his establishment, who puts in efforts, for the maintenance and construction of such a massive structure.

Unlike other universities the core decisions regarding the administration, academics and other activities, are taken under the general directions of Vice - Chancellor supported by the board of council. The impeccable executions of those decisions are thoroughly taken care off by the staff members, faculty and members of the university.

The diversified departments are self-explanatory in the wide variety of course options available to the aspiring candidates. Apart from various postgraduate and under graduate disciplines in pure sciences, social sciences and languages, the number of professional courses is also available to candidates.

The courses like medical and pharmaceutical sciences, engineering and technology, computer science and applications, energy research, dairying, animal husbandry and agriculture, business management and commerce, design and fine arts, theater and music, education and physical education, library and information science, law, and journalism and mass communication are available.

Adding to these, the university campus has always been fair to the need of interaction through seminars and conferences, workshops, guest lectures, symposia and presentations by different departments at various levels.

Punjab University is not only limited to the variety in courses, rather it takes care of the need of students to be motivated and a healthy competitive environment is created through different kinds of scholarships and financial aids. These include promotions by central government to bright students along with the fee concessions to the deserving students.

A Name to live up to and an experience to cherish….
It is not just scattered in India rather it has been a dream center of many students through out the world. Large number of Asian and African students has been a part of this university. The dean of foreign studies is being responsible to look after the needs of these students and to maintain tie-ups and liaisons with foreign universities.

In other words, Punjab University is an experience; an associate cherishes all his life.
